Dean’s PokéBallz began in 2020 as a small eBay side hustle when founder Jason Bissett started sorting through his younger brother Will’s belongings after he passed away.

Tucked in one of the boxes was a binder of Pokémon cards—one of which was worth $1,500. Jason had been 10 years older than Will and hadn’t understood the draw of Pokémon at the time, but the sorting, organizing, and collecting became incredibly therapeutic on his grief and sobriety journey.

“The Pokémon community has the fricken nicest people,” Jason said.
